Skills & Services

Freelance Journalist

I can meet all your needs for creatively written and well-researched news articles for both business-to-business and consumer newspapers, magazines and websites. All on deadline.

Content Development

As associate editor of Canadian AutoWorld, I not only wrote newsworthy stories about one of Canada’s most dynamic industries, auto retail, I worked with the talented Canadian AutoWorld team to develop the magazine supplying story ideas, new themes and direction.

Key sources of content and insight into industry trends are trade shows and industry conferences. I attended numerous trade shows and conferences, scouting for stories and trends by interviewing speakers, trainers and exhibitors. If your trade magazine needs someone to work the floor of a trade show searching for stories and products of interest to your readers, please give me a call.

Copy Editor

As associate editor of Canadian AutoWorld, I helped copy edit the magazine. That meant focusing on grammar, sentence structure and length to bring out the best in news briefs, freelance submissions, press releases and product debuts to get readers’ attention. How do I know? Because the companies that submitted content went on to become loyal advertisers.

Do your press releases and corporate communications read like a robot wrote them? I bring 16+ years of refining press releases and corporate communications at Canadian AutoWorld. I can make your press releases and corporate communications alert the people you want to reach out to and make them aware that something special is going on in your part of the Planet.

Do your presentations seem to be one long sentence after another? Let me help you give punch and readability to your work.

Are your speeches an antidote for insomnia? Let me help you make them ring out like the Gettysburg Address.

Range

My interests and writing skills are not confined to auto retail. I bring my experience as a lawyer with over 20 years’ of advocacy in Ontario’s criminal courts and administrative tribunals as well as a love of music, particularly jazz, to my writing.

Please see Not for the Squeamish in my portfolio and follow my blog, Village Stories, where I will be giving voice to the people of the Forest Hill/North Toronto area.
